Shaping Tomorrow’s Dental Experts: A Career Advising Session on the Important Role of Internships by Dr. Jovita D’Souza

The Students Happiness Center of the College of Dentistry, GMU organized an insightful career advising session titled “The Final Step: How Internships Shape Future Dental Professionals” on the 6th of November 2024. The session was facilitated by Dr. Jovita D’Souza, Clinical Director, and Dental Internship Program Director, CoD, GMU.

Dr. Jovita shared her expertise on the important role internships play in preparing dental students for professional practice, emphasizing the importance of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) and core competencies. She highlighted how EPA’s enable interns to gain hands-on experience and build confidence in performing critical tasks independently. By focusing on competency-based education, the session provided students with a roadmap to achieving essential skills and competencies, ensuring a smooth transition from academic learning to clinical practice.
