Gulf Medical University (GMU) proudly hosted the White Coat Ceremony on the 26th of September 2024, to mark the formal initiation of Year 1 Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Diploma for Dental Assistant Program (DDA) students into their academic journey in the field of dentistry. The white coat ceremony symbolizes the commitment of dental professionals to the values of ethics, professionalism, and compassionate patient care.
The ceremony took place in the august gathering of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Thumbay Moideen, President of Thumbay Group; Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of GMU; Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice Chancellor Academics, GMU; Prof. Walid Elsayed, Associate Dean of Academics, CoD, and Dr.Danavanthi Bangera, Medical Director, Thumbay Dental Hospital.
In a symbolic gesture, Dr. Thumbay Moideen presented the white coats to student representatives, Ms. Aalin Thayani and Mr. Ayaan Pasha from the BDS program, and Ms. Asal Khalafzadeh and Mr. Saeed Ebrahim Parmooteh from the DDA program. This act signified the students’ official welcome into the dental profession.
The event was made even more special by being live streamed on YouTube, allowing faculty, friends, and proud family members to join in and celebrate this important milestone.
