The College of Dentistry (CoD) organized a faculty development workshop on “Vocational Assessment: New Insights for Workplace Evaluation,” led by Prof. Walid Elsayed, Associate Dean for Academics, on the 13th of September 2024. Faculty members from various colleges within GMU attended the workshop, which provided valuable insights into workplace evaluations, with a focus on the critical components of vocational assessment.

Prof. Walid emphasized the roles of key stakeholders in the vocational assessment process, including learners, assessors, internal quality assurance, and external quality assurance. He also detailed the essential steps involved, such as developing an assessment plan, preparing assessment briefs, conducting validation and standardization meetings, performing workplace assessments, and preparing assessor feedback and internal verifier reports.
The workshop was highly regarded by attendees, as the topic of vocational assessment is both novel and essential for GMU and its colleges, especially given the introduction of new and emerging vocational programs. The insights provided will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of workplace evaluations across the university’s vocational offerings.
