The College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU) hosted an orientation program for Year 1 MDS students specializing in Endodontics and Periodontics on the 29th of August 2024. The event opened with a warm reception and a welcome address by Prof. Hesham Marei, Dean, CoD. Dr. Bassem Eid, Program Director of MDS Endodontics, and Dr. Bhavna Jha Kukhreja, Program Director of MDS Periodontics, introduced the students to the program’s academic and clinical training requirements, including workplace-based assessments.
Dr. Danvanthi Bangeera, Medical Director at Thumbay Dental Hospital, provided essential insights into clinical protocols and data acquisition, while Mr. Sunil KA, Head of the Medical Records Department, covered patient information protocols. Dr. Fiaz Ahamed, Head of Infection Control, briefed students on key infection control measures. The program concluded with an informative tour of the university and the postgraduate dental clinic at Thumbay University Hospital, ensuring that students felt well-prepared to embark on their academic journey.
