College of Dentistry organized an Interprofessional Education (IPE) event on the 14th of May 2024 on the topic ‘Interprofessional management of perio-endo lesion in a dental clinic for a patient with Type II Diabetes’. The IPE event aimed at enhancing vertical integration of basic and clinical sciences in the undergraduate dental program. Students from the clinical phase (year 4 and year 5) collaborated with the students from the preclinical phase (year 2) to tackle a clinical case to provide optimal patient care. Preclinical students elucidated fundamental concepts, while their clinical counterparts provided insights into diagnosis and treatment options. Collaboratively, students from the College of Medicine highlighted the relevance of diabetes in dental care, while those from the College of Pharmacy discussed the roles of NSAIDs and hypoglycaemic drugs. Furthermore, students from the College of Health Sciences showcased relevant dental imaging techniques.

Overall, the collaborative event marked a significant step forward in enhancing patient care and addressing complex oral health challenges.
