College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University conducted an ‘Orientation program for Dental Internship batch 2020, on the 6th of September 2020. Prof. Hesham Marei, Dean, College of Dentistry, Dr. Sanjeev Mehta, COO, Thumbay Dental Hospital and Dr. Shaju Philip, Director, Thumbay Medical and Speciality center, Sharjah addressed and welcomed the interns highlighting the importance of discipline, team spirit and hard work in clinical practice.
The interns were further briefed on academic requirements and general protocols by Prof. Hossam Abdelmagyd, Associate Dean for Clinical affairs and Dr.Dhanvanti Bhangera, Medical director, Thumbay Dental Hospital. Dr. Fiaz Ahmed, HoD, Infection control and Mr. Sunil KA, HoD, Medical Records discussed important aspects of ‘Prevention & Control of Infection’ and ‘Patient Information Policy’. International patient safety goals and fire safety measures were explained by Dr. Pawan Kumar Gupta, Manager, Quality Assurance and Mr. Manual, Fire safety officer.
The event concluded, describing the role of nurses in training dental interns by Ms.Beena Varghese, Dental Nurse Incharge, Thumbay Dental Hospital and enhanced medication safety by Dr. G. Shabaz Mohiuddin, Clinical Pharmacist.
