Final-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Master of Physiotherapy students from the Department of Physiotherapy, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, participated in the FitFeet camp organized by Special Olympics, UAE, at Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, Sharjah, UAE, on February 25, 2025.

Hands-on Experience and Skill Development
Under the guidance of expert podiatrists, students gained extensive hands-on experience in feet examination and assessment. They applied their physiotherapy skills in observing various feet deformities and conducting gait assessments. This camp provided students with opportunities to develop their leadership, interpersonal, professionalism, and ethics skills in a real-world setting.

Students were thrilled with the hands-on experience and appreciated the opportunity to work with healthy athletes with special needs.
Camp Outcomes
Approximately 40 healthy athletes were screened and advised for further referral based on their foot condition. The athletes departed the camp happily, each receiving a goody bag.
This community engagement activity demonstrates GMU’s commitment to social responsibility and providing students with experiential learning opportunities.
