Newly joined Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) students at the College of Health Sciences began their professional journey by donning their white coats on the 29th of September 2022 at Gulf Medical University (GMU) premises.
This solemn occasion was graced by the Chief Guest Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder & President, Board of trustees and Mr. Akbar Moideen, Vice President, Healthcare division. Professor Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor, Gulf Medical University presided over the occasion and delivered an inspirational talk that highlighted the role of different professionals in the patients care and how the university and different colleges are spearheading in the educational front with emphasis on inter-professional education, research and quality. He gave an insight into the ever-changing trends in health professions education delivery such as hybrid and blended learning and virtual patient learning and instructed students to take up challenges in daily front and to be a part of the upcoming revolution in healthcare delivery.

Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice Chancellor Academics led the administration of the GMU honor code, students put on their white coats in an inspirational and moving event that was attended by freshmen students, college and university officials. The ceremony was onsite with online broadcasting for faculty and parents watching their sons and daughters as they start their professional journey as Physiotherapy students.

Mr. Tamim Dzhakha and Ms. Bushra Hussain Mohammad Ali Alshammar received the white coats from the chief guest representing the BPT class.


Praveen Kumar, Dean, CoHS, congratulated the students on entering into the profession, faculty and staff of the Department of Physiotherapy celebrated the event with the students and wished them a rewarding professional journey ahead.
