The MHPE Summer Bootcamp 2025, held from May 16th – 24th at Gulf Medical University, brought together emerging scholars in Health Professions Education focusing on the theme “Research Methodology in Health Professions Education.” This intensive, hands-on bootcamp equipped MHPE participants with practical skills in study design, proposal writing, critical appraisal, and research ethics.

A notable highlight of the program was the interactive session on, “Using AI to Generate Research Ideas and Search Literature” Co-facilitated by Dr. Jameel Rizwana Hussaindeen, Program Director & Associate Professor, Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, CoHS, and Dr. Farah Azhar, the session explored cutting-edge AI tools—Semantic Scholar, SciSpace, Elicit, and ResearchRabbit. Participants engaged in live demonstrations and discussions on how these tools can enhance literature discovery, idea generation, and synthesis of evidence. Dr. Rizwana provided a thought-provoking perspective on the ethical integration of AI in research, emphasizing the continuing need for human critical thinking, ethical judgment, and academic rigor.

“The MHPE Bootcamp continues to elevate the standards of research training in health professions education. Sessions like the one led by Dr. Rizwana demonstrate our commitment to integrating emerging technologies like AI in a thoughtful and ethical manner—empowering our learners to become innovative, future-ready scholars,”- commented Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, College of Health Sciences.
