An online scientific session titled “Role of Precision Based Biomarkers in Respiratory Neuroplasticity” as a faculty development program on 15th Dec 2023 in the Department of Physiotherapy, College of Health Sciences, GMU that aimed to add the advancements in professional practice to teaching learning methods and collaborative researches in College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Jayakrishnan Nair, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Therapy, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA, shared his research interest in developing precision biomarkers to predict recovery outcomes in patients with neurological injuries and diseases and focused on 1) developing novel approaches for neurorehabilitation in spinal cord injuries (SCI) using Intermittent hypercapnic-hypoxia; 2) identify genetic and epigenetic biomarkers that predict individual differences in responses to neuroplasticity-based interventions.

Faculty members of CoHS, undergraduate and graduate students attended the session and actively participated in the discussion.
Dr. Ramprasad, Chairperson of the department encouraged the possibilities of joint research projects relevant to developing novel approaches for neurorehabilitation in spinal cord injuries (SCI) in the upcoming days.
Praveen Kumar, Dean, CoHS commented: “It is very important that faculty and students learn from experts and apply the same in their clinical practice.”
Students and faculty of CoHS are grateful to Dr. Jayakrishnan Nair for his time and for sharing his expertise.
