NGS Data Analysis-FDP conducted by Department of MLS, CoHS, GMU

Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at CoHS, organized a specialized faculty development workshop titled “Introduction to NGS Data Analysis” on the 4th, 11th, and 18th  of October 2024. The workshop was presented by Dr. Abdalla Ahmed, Microbiology Consultant and expert in genome sequencing data analysis.

This comprehensive training aimed to provide faculty members with essential skills in analyzing DNA sequence data using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology. Participants gained in-depth knowledge and practical experience in using various tools of NGS data analysis, including evaluation of data quality, sequence mapping, and variant analysis. The training also covered the application of these skills in MLS research, empowering faculty members to apply these tools in their own research projects.

The program not only strengthened the faculty’s technical abilities but also enhanced their capacity to contribute to the rapidly expanding field of genomics. This initiative underscores the department’s dedication to advancing medical research and education through continuous professional development.

Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, CoHS, remarked: “This faculty development program is a significant step towards strengthening our research capabilities. It ensures that our faculty is at the forefront of technological advancements in Medical Laboratory Sciences, ultimately benefiting our students and the broader healthcare community.”
