Medical Laboratory Sciences students of CoHS visit to Seniors’ Happiness Center, Ajman as a part Community Engagement Activity

Students and faculty of Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Health Sciences organized a visit to the Seniors’ Happiness Center in Ajman on 26.04.2022 as a part of community activity, under the supervision of a member of MLS faculty and Dr Ahmed, Chairperson, Department of MLS.

Students provided health awareness information about stress diseases, healthy food for diabetes, and stress measurement. Students interacted with the inmates and listened to their different stories and gave a helping hand in their daily activities and healthcare. Under the supervision of the faculty, students did blood sugar test and measured blood pressure for the elderly then they distributed gifts as token of respect and appreciation.

The visit was appreciated and praised by the elderly home administrators and staff.

Praveen Kumar Dean, CoHS commented “Community engagement is a very crucial role to be played by all health care professionals which is imparted in GMU students in all programs”.

Visiting the elderly helps break up the routine of their daily activities, but also keeps them feeling connected to the world around them, this visit to the Seniors’ Happiness Centre was a fulfilling and emotional experience for all of us.
