BSc. MLS students of CoHS conducted a community engaging workshop on First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on 19th of November 2024, for Grade 10 students at Ajman Private School. Led by Dr. Salma Elnour as part of the “Teaching and Learning for Laboratory Professionals” course, the workshop aimed to develop students’ teaching skills while raising community health awareness.
The high school students participated actively, learning life-saving techniques like responding to choking, cardiac arrest, and basic wound care. Practical demonstrations and hands-on CPR practice on mannequins ensured they left with confidence in handling emergencies.

Dr. Ahmed, Chair of the Department of the MLS, praised the initiative, stating, “This workshop bridges classroom learning with real-world application, helping our students grow into well-rounded professionals who can positively impact society.”
Dr. Sara Ali and Dr. Abdulgadir, who attended the session, applauded the students’ enthusiasm. “It’s inspiring to see the passion and professionalism our students bring to such initiatives,” said Dr. Sara Ali. Dr. Abdulgadir added, “This event highlights the transformative power of education, benefiting both the students and the wider community.”

Dr. Salma Elnour emphasized the initiative’s significance, stating, “This workshop helps our MLS students enhance their communication skills while raising awareness about essential health practices.”

Dr. Praveen, Dean, College of Health Sciences, concluded, “Such activities align with our mission to develop leaders in healthcare. They not only promote health literacy but also equip our students with vital skills like leadership and empathy, reflecting Gulf Medical University’s commitment to education and community service.”
