Physiotherapy Students of Department of Physiotherapy, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, made a service impact at the recent conducted Desert Run X-C held at Meliá Desert Palm Hotel, Dubai on 05.05.2024. The event, organized by the Super Sports team, saw active participation from a dedicated group of aspiring physiotherapists from the university.

Third year BPT studnets namely Ms.Shehzeen Shahin, Ms. Mehak Gulati, Ms.Keerthana Sudip, Ms.Therese Ann, Ms.Sara Muhammed, Ms.Ismail Ghori, and Ms.Safoora Fatima provided specialized warm-up, cool-down, and rehabilitation services to a diverse group of participants, ranging from young amateurs to seasoned athletes. This practical application of their skills in a real-world setting not only demonstrated their expertise but also emphasized the critical role of teamwork and collaboration in healthcare.

The department’s involvement not only enhanced the experience for participants but also reinforced the university’s commitment to promoting health and fitness through expert physiotherapy services. This event marks another significant event in the department’s ongoing efforts to engage with the community and foster an environment where academic learning meets practical application.

Dr. Waqar M. Naqvi, PhD, mentor for the event and the coordinator for community engagement activities of COHS and coordinated the event smoothly for the practical learning experience. “It’s an invaluable experience for our students to apply their knowledge outside the classroom and see the immediate impact of their work,” Dr. Naqvi stated. Dr Ramprasad.M, Chair Department of Physiotherapy highlighted the importance of preparatory training and administration of such events in preparing future healthcare professionals in sports physiotherapy arena and thanked Supersportsuae and other collaborators.
