GMU’s Physiotherapy Students Celebrate World Heart Day 2023

Final year Physiotherapy students of CoHS, GMU celebrated World Heart Day on October 2, 2023, by conducting a community awareness campaign at the Arada office in Aljada.

Final year BPT students namely Ms. Magda, Ms. Arezou, Ms. Areej, Ms. Sareh, Mr. Osman, and Ms. Lujain, mentored by Dr. Shima, Dr. Waqar Naqvi, and Ms. Sharmila educated the public about the vital role of physical activity and nutrition in maintaining heart health.

The event had a multifaceted approach. Firstly, it sought to raise awareness about the dangers of sedentary lifestyles and smoking, with the goal of reducing heart disease risk. Additionally, participants were engaged in a 6-minute stress test to assess cardiovascular fitness, promoting regular exercise. Students also provided resources and counseling to support those seeking to quit smoking, and educational materials emphasized nutrition, exercise, and stress management in heart health.

The World Heart Day event achieved its objectives by raising awareness, promoting healthier lifestyle choices, and providing valuable resources to enhance heart health in the community. It exemplified the positive impact of community engagement and education in promoting heart health.
