Students and faculty of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences of the College of Health Sciences celebrated International Medical Laboratory Professional week on 25.04. 2022 under the slogan – Giving the Gift of Health.
Students provided health awareness information about some hematological and microbiological diseases and explained the visitors some of the devices and equipment used in laboratory examinations. Students displayed handicrafts that reflect the field of medical laboratories. Under the supervision of the faculty, students did blood sugar test and measured blood pressure for the visitors.
Medical Laboratory Professionals Week provides the profession with a unique opportunity to increase public understanding of and appreciation for clinical laboratory personnel.
The event was graced by Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of Gulf Medical University, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, College of Health Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Chairperson of the Department of MLS, faculties and GMU students.
The first event for Medical Laboratory Professionals Week originated in 1975 as National Medical Laboratory Week, under the auspices of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS).
