On 26th December 2024, Mr. Murtada Idris, Clinical Instructor, and Mr. Nithin Raj, Clinical Tutor, from the Department of Anesthesia Technology, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, participated as invited speakers in the seminar titled “Role of Anesthesia in Trauma Cases Program” organized by Shaikh Khalifa Medical Center (SKMC), Ajman.
The seminar brought together a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to explore critical aspects of trauma care. Representing GMU, the two speakers delivered insightful sessions that highlighted the evolving role of anesthesia technologists and the significance of inter-professional teamwork in trauma settings.

Mr. Nithin Raj presented on “The Role of Technologists in Regional Anesthesia for Trauma Cases”, where he addressed the technical and clinical responsibilities of anesthesia technologists in trauma contexts. His presentation emphasized preparation, positioning, equipment setup, and aseptic techniques necessary for successful regional blocks. He also highlighted the unique challenges of managing regional anesthesia in trauma cases, as well as the risk-benefit considerations to optimize patient outcomes.
Mr. Murtada Idris presented on “Inter-professional Teamwork in the Trauma Setting”, focusing on the dynamics of healthcare teams in high-pressure environments such as emergency departments and operating rooms. He emphasized the importance of seamless communication and coordination among anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and technologists. His talk featured real-world scenarios that illustrated the life-saving impact of collaboration during the golden hour of trauma care.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Dr. Yasir Ahmed Salem, Head of the Department of Anesthesia at SKMC, extended heartfelt appreciation to both speakers for their valuable contributions. He praised the relevance of their topics and recognized their professional commitment and educational impact. Dr. Yasir also presented them with certificates of appreciation for their efforts.
