Dr. Waqar M. Naqvi Joins College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University

GMU, College of Health Sciences, faculty and staff welcomed Dr. Waqar M. Naqvi who joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy. Dr. Waqar is from India and is a well-known and recognized researcher and academician. He is known for evolving and establishing emerging ideas in research training throughout his more than 13 years of professional experience. Owing to his distinct expertise in diverse research areas, he worked as an Associate Director of research at the VSPM Academy of Higher Education under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences till 2022 where he has ingrained research ecosystem and educational research in ongoing education programs for Medical, Dental, Physiotherapy and Nursing colleges.

Dr. Waqar M. Naqvi has built a foundation in Physiotherapy with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and a Master’s degree in Community Health Rehabilitation from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, India. He pursued his Doctorate in Physiotherapy from Datta Meghe University of Higher Education and Research, India. During his Ph.D. in Physiotherapy, he explored the implication of virtual reality in the field of rehabilitation.

Dr. Waqar M. Naqvi is eminently known for his textbook ‘Physiotherapy in Community Health and Rehabilitation’. He has 172 peer-reviewed publications, 6 patents (2 granted and 4 published), 3 textbooks, and 15 copyrights registered with the government of India to date. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Indian Association of Physiotherapy and the Best Teacher award by the Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences in 2020. During his academic career in 2021, he was deputed as a representative of University at Study in India Education Fair in Addis, Ababa, Ethiopia, Accra, and Ghana where he dealt with the projects of admissions, staff and student exchange programs, and joint research projects. He is serving as an Academic Editor in PLoS ONE; Guest Associate Editor in Frontier in Education (Digital Learning Innovations), and Associate Editor in the Journal of Medical Pharmaceutical and Allied Sciences.
