Department of Anaesthesia Technology, College of Health Sciences conducted an Interprofessional Education workshop in collaboration with MIS Department in Ultrasound – Guided nerve blocks on 18. 11.2022 in CASH, GMU.
Dr. Mostafa Abdelrahman, an Associate Professor in MIS, CoHS, demonstrated the ultrasound technology application in peripheral nerve blocking, the knobology of the machine, methods to optimize the ultrasonic image, and transducer handling and manipulation.

Mr. Murtada, Clinical Instructor, AT department demonstrated the aseptic preparation for ultrasound – guided nerve blocks and the required items and precautions during the block techniques.

Dr. Osama Zayed, Adjunct faculty, AT department and Head of the Anaesthesia department in Burjeel Hospital, Sharjah, had given a brief talk about the relevant sonoanatomy, technique and block dynamics of an ultrasound-guided of upper and lower extremities. Then he demonstrated the common approaches of ultrasound in guiding of upper compartment nerve blocks (Supraclavicular, Interscalene, Axillary brachial plexus, Radial, Ulnar and Median nerve blocks).
Semester 07 AT students had the opportunity to perform hands on practice in applying the ultrasound–guiding nerve blocks for different approaches of Axillary, Radial, Ulnar and Median nerve blocks.
