On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the College of Health Sciences (CoHS) hosted an orientation event for the new intake of students enrolled in the Master of Science in Medical Ultrasound (MSc. MUS) program. The event marked the beginning of an exciting journey for aspiring medical ultrasound professionals.
The orientation began with a warm welcome from the Dean of CoHS, Dr. Praveen Kumar, who expressed enthusiasm about the potential of the incoming class. The Dean emphasized the college’s commitment to providing a supportive and innovative learning environment for all students.

Following the Dean’s welcome, the Program Director, Dr. Mostafa Abdelrahman, took the stage to dive into the specifics of the program. The presentation covered a wide range of topics essential for the students’ academic and professional development. Dr. Mostafa Abdelrahman meticulously explained the program’s curriculum, highlighting the blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills students will acquire. Attention was also given to the detailed schedule, which has been carefully crafted to optimize learning outcomes.
Additionally, the orientation provided an overview of the facilities available to the students. These facilities are designed to simulate real-world medical environments, offering students hands-on experience with the latest ultrasound technology and equipment. The Program Director stressed the importance of utilizing these resources to enhance their learning experience.

Other topics were also presented including how to be a successful MSc student by Dr. Mohammad Rawashdeh, the mentorship program by Mr. Albin Wilson, the use of GMU library and learning resources by Mr. Daies Idiculla, and IT infrastructure by Mr. Suraj Sebastian.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and express their expectations for the program. The orientation served as a promising start to the academic year, setting the tone for what is anticipated to be a rigorous yet rewarding journey into the field of medical ultrasound.
