CoHS, GMU felicitated for the services offered in Special Olympics, UAE

H.E. Talal Al Hashemi, National Director, Special Olympics UAE awarded The Healthy Community 2023 Appreciation Award on 19th November 2024 to CoHS, Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE in recognition of services offered by the students and faculty of CoHS for our contributions in attaining the title of “Healthy Community” for the UAE marking a significant milestone for the nation.

Appreciation Award was received by Dr. Praveen Kumar K, Dean, CoHS and Dr. Meruna Bose, Clinical Director, FunFitness on behalf of CoHS, Gulf Medical University.

College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE has been supporting events of Special Olympics, UAE catering to inclusive health for Healthy Athletes through FunFitness, FitFeet, Healthy Hearing and Opening Eyes programs. These camps screened the athletes for their fitness, flexibility, strength, endurance, feet condition, balance, gait and various biomechanical aspects of physical fitness and health. The advice and exercise prescription given to athletes after screening helped them to cope in their daily living and sports activities /tournaments. Recently in the UAE Games organized by Special Olympics UAE, we had the opportunity to work in the domains of Opening Eyes and Healthy Hearing as well.
