Students of BSC MLS program of the Medical Laboratory Sciences department, College of Health Sciences, GMU conducted an educational event at Al Durrah International School, Sharjah on the 18th of October 2022, to educate the school’s students Hand Hygiene Awareness.
MLS students of different academic years delivered a presentation on the need and the importance of practicing hand hygiene that emphasized the use of hand sanitizers and hand washing with soap and water. Students also demonstrated the appropriate technique of handing washing to empower the practice of good hand hygiene to prevent transmissible infections by touch.
The event also focused on addressing hand hygiene-related questions which received a great response from the school students and teachers. Slide show awareness of what happens if hand hygiene is not practiced followed by activities involving the school students how the bacteria can be kept away from the surfaces when soap is used. The children enjoyed actively taking part and took back the message with the handouts of practicing good hand hygiene.
