GMU’s Dr. Mohammad Rawashdeh Highlights the Importance of Sustainable Radiography at European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2025, Vienna

Dr. Mohammad Rawashdeh, Associate Professor and Chair of the Medical Imaging Sciences Department at College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University (GMU), recently presented at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2025, held from February 26 to March 2, 2025.

His talk, titled “Towards Sustainable Radiography: Exploring Perceptions and Overcoming Barriers,” highlighted the critical role of environmental sustainability in radiology and the challenges faced by radiographers in adopting eco-friendly practices.

Dr. Rawashdeh’s presentation explored radiographers’ perspectives on sustainability, current practices, and barriers preventing widespread adoption of greener solutions in imaging departments. He emphasized that while sustainability is a growing concern in healthcare, there remains a gap in research specifically addressing how radiographers perceive and integrate sustainable practices in their work.

“We are proud of Dr. Rawashdeh’s outstanding contribution to the global discussion on sustainable radiography. His research reinforces GMU’s commitment to innovation, responsibility, and excellence in medical imaging.

The College of Health Sciences at GMU is dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare through pioneering research, education, and community engagement. Dr. Rawashdeh’s presentation at ECR 2025 is a testament to our university’s active role in advancing the field of radiology and promoting sustainable practices in healthcare.” – praised Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University.

The presentation was warmly received and highly appreciated by the event organizers and the international radiology community, underscoring the vital role of collaboration and innovation in advancing the field of radiology.
