Department of Physiotherapy, CoHS at Gulf Medical University (GMU) organized a comprehensive workshop on “Ergonomic Excellence: Enhance Health and Efficiency at Work” on February 14, 2025 in collaboration with Department of Human Resources, GMU. This event tailored for GMU’s faculty and staff, aimed to promote workplace well-being and productivity through ergonomic best practices.

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome by Miss. Jisha Sebastian, Learning and Development Officer at GMU. Dr Ramprasad, Chair of the Department of Physiotherapy, delivered an insightful overview on musculoskeletal adaptivity, overcoming injury by dealing with posture signs and nerve flossing. He emphasized the importance of recognizing early warning signs of musculoskeletal disorders and adopting preventive measures.

The session also featured expert presentations by esteemed faculty members:
- Animesh Hazari, Associate Professor, discussed upper and lower crossed syndromes, spine ergonomics and posture correction techniques, highlighting the significance of maintaining optimal spinal alignment.
- Watson, MPT Program Director and Associate Professor, showcased nerve mobility and neural mobilization techniques, strategies to mitigate neural contributions to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in occupational settings demonstrating how these nerve flossing exercises can improve nerve function, reduce discomfort and enhance productivity.
- Rajasekar S., Assistant Professor, covered essential topics on fitness, nutrition, wellness and mindfulness providing practical tips for incorporating healthy habits into daily routines. He also demonstrated how to perform basic exercises without the need for any specialized equipment, making fitness accessible to everyone.
A Q&A session, led by Dr. Ramprasad, concluded the workshop, addressing participants’ queries and providing further insights and practical advice. The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Miss Jisha Sebastian, marking successful conclusion.
The importance of ergonomics, posture and exercise in enhancing health and efficiency among professionals was well received by the target audience including desk job professionals, administrative staff, and faculties at GMU.
