Final-year BPT and MPT program students from the College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, volunteered as physiotherapists alongside the medical team from Thumbay University Hospital at the Bunts Premier League (Season 4) on January 26, 2025. The event, organized by the Devesh Alva Memorial Group, was held at the DCS Arena in Sharjah.
Participating students, including Mr. Osman (MPT student and clinical preceptor), Mr. Balaabhishek (2021PT08), Ms. Monica (2021PT20), Ms. Shabnam (2021PT29), and Ms. Afnan (2021PT26), gained valuable experience in sports physiotherapy. They managed musculoskeletal injuries, provided targeted treatments, and guided players through exercises to alleviate discomfort and promote recovery.

This community event provided students with hands-on experience in non-clinical settings, helping to build confidence and expertise in sports physiotherapy. Through collaboration with the first-aid team, students learned to apply physiotherapy practices in dynamic, real-world environments, enhancing their ability to work effectively in non-clinical situations.
Dr. Praveen Kumar, the Dean, commented: “This opportunity helps students refine their clinical skills while also equipping them with the practical experience needed to tackle real-world scenarios in sports physiotherapy, promoting comprehensive professional development.”
