GMU’s Physiotherapy students celebrate World Walking Day-Community Awareness Activity

3rd year Physiotherapy (BPT) students of Department of Physiotherapy, CoHS, GMU celebrated World Walking Day by organizing a community awareness activity on 01.11.2023 in the main foyer of GMU campus. The event aimed at spreading awareness of the cardiovascular benefits of walking, show the importance of proper gait and posture to be able to walk efficiently and prevent any pains during walking and finally encourage students to be more active.

A total of 6 stations were arranged highlighting different aspects of the event. The first included poster for the cardiovascular benefits of walking and hand painting, the second station had poster for the different types of bad postures and there was posture analysis available there, the third station had the importance of correct gait while walking and showed about the different types of gaits and their analysis, the fourth and fifth stations were races called hop spot which was a one legged race involving anatomy questions and the other was a tandem race and tandem balance game, they were there to help encourage the students in taking part and being active and the last station was a brief quiz about what the students had learned from this event.

By the end of the event the goals were met, and awareness had been raised as many students had developed a keen interest and understood the importance on something as simple as walking which could be very powerful and help change their lifestyles for the better.
