GMU’s Physiotherapy students participate in Health Athletes Event of Special Olympics UAE

BPT and MPT students of College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University volunteered for Healthy Athletes Event organized by Special Olympics UAE held at Wafa School for Capacity Development, Sharjah supported by Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) on 02.11.2023.

Special Olympics UAE provides opportunities to develop physical fitness, social skills, and participation among other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Dr. Meruna Bose participated as Clinical Director of “FunFitness”  in this event.  They screened the athletes for physical fitness on various domains like flexibility, strength, balance, and aerobic capacity. Following screening the athletes were given appropriate exercise regime to improve their capacity in the domains which required attention.

It was a fun filled interactive community engagement activity which enabled all the students to learn and apply their knowledge and skills gained in their final year of their respective programs. The athletes returned with smiles on their face after receiving a goodie bag from the organizers.
