Physiotherapy Students of CoHS, GMU Conduct Ergonomics Awareness Session at Global Indian School, Ajman

Physiotherapy students of Department of Physiotherapy, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University conducted a community engagement activity on 27th April 2023 at Global Indian School, Ajman.

Around 400 students from grade 1 to grade 4 were educated about the school backpack ergonomics and simple shoulder and neck exercises.  Teachers and health professionals in the school were also oriented about the importance of backpack ergonomics. The activity was well appreciated by the teachers and students at the global Indian school of Ajman.

Third year BPT students namely Ms. Saheema moila kiriyath (2020PT06), Ms. Mariyam Haider (2020PT04), Ms. Nidaa Abdul Jalal (2020PT16), Ms. Shahwar Fatima Ansari (2020PT19), Ms. Rochelle Esther (2020PT31), Ms. Faith Omusonga (2020PT40) and Ms. Fiza Abid (2019PT25) under the guidance of Dr. Sukumar Shanmugam conducted this activity.

School principal of the staff were satisfied with the community services provided to their students, and they also requested us to deliver similar awareness program to the other school students especially for primary school children.

Praveen Kumar Dean, CoHS commented “Community engagement is a very crucial role to be played by all health care professionals which is imparted in GMU students in all programs”.
