Students and faculty of Dept. of Anesthesia Technology, CoHS, GMU celebrate “World Anesthesia Day – 2022”

Students and faculty of Anesthesia, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University Celebrated World Aesthesia Day on 16. 10.2022.

Celebration were inaugurated by a welcome note from Dr. Ellen Safadi, Program Director of Anesthesia Technology program.

Mr. Murtada Fathelrahman, faculty delivered a talk on relevance and the evolution of anesthesia through history, mirroring the milestone of anesthesia practice and the anesthesia pioneers.

Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor, GMU -Chief guest delivered the keynote address on the importance of Anesthesia technology and how it evolved in the region, also about anesthesia program in the GMU and how it developed through years.

Guest speaker Dr.Osama Zayed HOD department of Burjeel Specialty Hospital talked about the role of anesthesia technologist and how it will help in ensuring patient safety during surgical procedures by widening the knowledge and skills of anesthesia which let them well prepared to deal with any case scenarios inside OT or outside.

Mr. Azad GMU alumni gave a reflection on his journey in GMU as students and the opportunities in AT fields which will not be inside hospitals only

All students participated in the quiz competition related to anesthesia history prepared and conducted by second year students.

Fourth year student Ms. Leen Afdar presented a poster related to local anesthetics systemic toxicity.

Praveen Kumar, Dean, CoHS had the privilege of announcing anesthesia technology program reaccreditation by CAA (commission for academic accreditation), he also thanked the respected Chancellor, Program Director, and the Anesthesia Technology faculties on this achievement.

Quiz competition winners received certificates of appreciation from anesthesia technology faculties.

The session ended with vote of thanks from Mr. Nithin Raj clinical coordinator in anesthesia technology program.
