Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences Orientation: 2022 Cohort

Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences of CoHS, GMU welcomed the 2022 cohort of BSc MLS program on September 8th, 2022, by conducting an orientation program at the Gulf Medical University campus.

Orientation included a welcome address by the Dean, CoHS, followed by detailed information related to the study plan, graduation requirements were shared by Dr. Ahmed Luay, Chairperson of the department. Information related to the semester and the details of all courses was explained by Ms. Devapriya, semester coordinator. Lead faculties conducting different courses were introduced and information related to learning resources, different student supports services, students’ happiness center and procedures and policies to be followed in the university were explained in detail.  A tour of the facilities including GMU’s simulation center and Thumbay Labs ended with a get together between students and faculty.

Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, College of Health Sciences commented: “It is a great pleasure to welcome our 2022 cohort of BSc MLS program students. Students have begun an exciting professional journey with a bright future and career ahead, especially when they will be trained in GMU’s state-of-the-art facilities under highly qualified faculties. He laid stress on the importance of professional life and lifelong learning process”.

Along with the students some of the parents joined the session. Few students were unable to come in person and they joined through Zoom meeting. The session had freeness to interact among the new joiners and with the faculties clarifying their queries.

Ms. Arshiya Shadab, BSc. MLS program Alumni of 2017 batch addressed the freshers sharing her experiences and highlighted her educational motivation and career guidance received from the highly qualified and experienced faculties. She briefed the updated educational facilities and opportunities provided by the university which helped her to excel in her knowledge and skills to apply in her career. This was highly motivational to the future Laboratory Technologists.
