Dr. Mostafa Abdelrahman has a background in radiologic technology and graduated from the University of Leeds with an MSc in Medical Imaging and a PhD degree in Ultrasound. He joined GMU since August 2022 as an Associate Professor in the Medical Imaging Sciences Program.
Dr. Abdelrahman is an experienced educator and researcher with over 10 years in academia. Over the span of his career, he taught hundreds of radiographers and supervised MSc and PhD students in different parts of the world, including the UK, Jordan, UAE and Malaysia. In addition, he assumed administrative positions and acted as a Department Chair and as an Assistant Dean for the Department of Allied Medical Sciences at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
Dr. Abdelrahman research interest includes cancer perfusion studies using ultrasound and ultrasound flow phantoms. He also has interest in other areas of medical imaging including infection control in the radiology department, reading performance studies, and diagnostic reference levels. Dr. Abdelrahman published 34 peer reviewed papers in high impact journals and presented his work at major national and international scientific meetings.
Dr. Abdelrahman served as the Head of Scientific Committee for the Jordanian Society of Radiographer and led a national team to establish the National Manual for Mammography Practice in Jordan. In addition, he worked with his team to establish a world-leading imaging and simulation laboratory which includes state-of-the-art digital x-ray facilities, an interactive remotely controlled CT laboratory, and high-end workstations.
