University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria’s Prof. Sunzenauer Delivers Week-Long Applied Informatics Course to GMU’s International Foundation Program Students

Gulf Medical University (GMU) recently hosted Prof. Stefan Sunzenauer the Director of the Center of Lifelong Learning -University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, who delivered an intensive week of the Applied Informatics course to students in the International Foundation Program. This program is offered by the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and hosted by GMU. It allows students to gain foundational knowledge before continuing their studies at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria or other European universities.
Prof. Stefan’s course covered key topics in applied informatics, offering the students practical skills and insights in the field. His visit also included productive discussions about ongoing projects between the two institutions, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and lifelong education. These collaborations aim to expand educational opportunities, foster innovative research, and further strengthen the academic partnership between GMU and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria.
Dr. Naglaa Ashmawy, the Director of the International Foundation Programs at GMU emphasized the value of the course, noting, “Prof. Stefan’s visit provides our students with an early connection to their future academic journey in Europe, allowing them to benefit directly from the expertise of faculty from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. This experience not only strengthens their foundation in applied informatics but also prepares them for an international academic environment.”
During the course, students were exposed to both theoretical concepts and hands-on applications, enhancing their understanding and sparking their interest in the field of applied informatics. The interactive sessions facilitated by Prof. Stefan encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving, key skills essential for their further studies in Europe.
