The Simulation Department of Gulf Medical University (GMU) consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community empowerment by conducting a comprehensive First Aid Awareness session for the staff of the Al Noor Rehabilitation and Welfare Association for People of Determination. The training, held on 2 different days on May 12 and May 15, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, with 14 participants on each day. The session was led by Sandhya Arun, Manager – Simulation, and Dr. Judith John, Life Support Instructor.

This impactful session provided 28 dedicated staff members—including the Head of Department, Assistant HOD, Special Educators, Vocational Trainers, and Lifeguards—with critical first aid skills to confidently respond to medical and injury-related emergencies. The training covered a wide range of topics, including:
- Introduction to First Aid and First Aider’s Responsibility
- Medical Emergencies: heart attack, choking, hyperventilation, anaphylaxis, stroke, diabetic emergencies, and seizures
- Injury Emergencies: major bleeding, nose bleeding, fractures, dislocations, sprains, concussions, head injuries, and spinal cord injuries
- Environmental Emergencies: bites and stings, as well as heat- and cold-related incidents
The department’s expertise and passion for fostering safety and preparedness in the community shone throughout the session. Participants were actively engaged and walked away with newfound confidence in handling critical situations, thereby enhancing the overall safety of the people they care for and support.
