The QA&IE Unit conducted a workshop on “Annual Staff Appraisal” on Monday, 6th June 2022. The workshop was attended by all academic and administrative support staff members from across the university.
The workshop was led by Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor Quality & Global Engagement and Dean, College of Pharmacy and facilitated by Dr. Ibrahim Elsayed, Director of QA&IE Unit. The objective of the workshop was to orient all staff members to the newly developed online staff appraisal system.

Prof. Sherief emphasized that the Staff appraisal provides the opportunity to identify areas for further training, improve performance, increase job satisfaction and motivation. The system will enable the department heads to give constructive feedback on employee performance and recommendations related to professional development and promotion.
Prof. Sherief highlighted the importance of communication, and face-to-face meetings between employees and line managers to make the staff appraisal exercise most beneficial.

The new system captures submission for three types of Staff appraisals (Probation evaluation, Annual evaluation and Contract renewal) and allows employees to reflect on (1) their Achievements in relation to their individual performance plan or job description; (2) areas for improvement of performance & skills; (3) Training and development needs as agreed between the employee and the line manager. The system automatically calculates the overall score of staff performance based on the inputs of the department head in addition to capturing the plans for the enhancement of the staff performance. The new system provides an additional feature for editing submissions based on the updates taking place across the academic year.
At the end of the session, Prof. Sherief and Dr. Ibrahim addressed the queries from the audience. The recorded session is available through this [link]
