Gulf Medical University (GMU) conducted an internal mock fire evacuation drill on February 2, 2024. This comprehensive exercise aimed to assess our preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a fire emergency, ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of our GMU community.
During the drill, participants demonstrated exemplary cooperation and adherence to fire and safety protocols, swiftly evacuating the buildings in an orderly manner. The emergency response team was led by Mr. Jake our health and safety officer.
As part of the drill, emergency response teams targeted 15 minutes to clear the building. We are happy to say that in 13 minutes, we cleared the building. Also, firefighting techniques were demonstrated, emphasizing the importance of fire safety awareness and preparedness. Participants had the opportunity to learn how to use fire equipment effectively and respond appropriately to fire-related emergencies.
The success of the mock fire evacuation drill underscores GMU’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for everyone on our campus. It reflects our proactive approach to emergency preparedness and our dedication to fostering a culture of safety and resilience within our community.
Moving forward, we will continue to conduct regular drills, training sessions, and safety initiatives to enhance our emergency preparedness and response capabilities further.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants, Deans, Vice Chancellors and the Chancellor in making the mock fire evacuation drill a resounding success. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of our GMU community.
