Gulf Medical University Celebrates UAE Flag Day

The GMU campus was resplendent with hues of green, black, red and white, representing the UAE flag. The celebrations started with the UAE national anthem, followed by the hoisting of the UAE’s flag at the campus and reciting the pledge of allegiance to the nation and its wise leadership. A cake-cutting ceremony led by the chief guest Prof. Hossam Hamdy, the Chancellor of GMU was part of the celebrations. Students also released balloons representing the colors of the UAE flag.
Prof. Hossam Hamdy expressed the University’s delight in celebrating the joyous annual occasion, to instill loyalty and commitment to the UAE Government’s quest for socio-economic growth, the preservation of local culture, and environmental sustainability in line with the vision and guidance of the country’s visionary leadership. “By hoisting the UAE flag today, the staff and students of GMU express our pride in being a part of this great country. As a community of students from 80 nationalities and faculty/staff from over 25 nations, we also take this opportunity to express our appreciation of the UAE’s role as a front runner in embracing various cultures and as a pioneer of peaceful coexistence and tolerance,” he said.
Reiterating their loyalty and commitment to the UAE Government’s vision, the attendees from different cultures used the occasion to reaffirm the love for the UAE; their ‘home away from home’.
