College of Pharmacy students are fortunate at GMU to learn together with students from other professions. The photo above shows a group of pharmacy, medicine, and nursing students in their experiential education on their rounds at the Thumbay University Hospital. Different groups of students are rounding through pharmacy and other clinical areas on a daily basis to discuss medication management in the hospital. Learning collaborative practice is an outcome of experiential education across all health professions programs at GMU. Collaborative practice and teamwork are being assessed in advanced pharmacy practice experience of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.

Vice Chancellor for Quality & Global Engagement and Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Sherief Khalifa commented; “It is natural for GMU students to socialize and study together in GMU academic health center. Facilitating and assessing IPE at experiential education is necessary to ensure the graduates are practice-ready.”
