College of Dentistry organized an Interprofessional Education Activity shared by the students of Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Physiotherapy ‘To learn about, from, and with each other’

College of Dentistry organized an Interprofessional Education (IPE) activity on the 22nd of November 2022 on the topic ‘Management of Dental Periapical Abscess’. The IPE session was organized to support the vertical integration of basic and clinical sciences in the undergraduate dental program. Students from the clinical phase (year 4) collaborated with the students from the preclinical phase (year 2) to tackle a clinical case to provide optimal patient care. Students from the preclinical phase explained basic science concepts and from the clinical phase explained the diagnosis and the possible treatment modalities. Students from Pharmacy and Physiotherapy were invited. They explained the role of NSAIDs and hypoglycemic drugs in patient management and demonstrated evidence-based techniques to treat trismus.
