A workshop on “Edpuzzle applications in Teaching and Learning” was organized on May 20, 2021, for all faculty members and staff of Gulf Medical University. The workshop was led by Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor Quality & Global Engagement and Dean, College of Pharmacy and facilitated by Dr Ibrahim Elsayed, Director of the QA&IE Unit and Mr. Suraj, E-Learning Manager.

Prof. Sherief highlighted that the QA&IE unit is taking initiatives to make the teaching and learning processes at GMU more interactive which will enhance faculty and staff productivity and equip them with better tools to effectively deliver their responsibilities. He also emphasized that Edpuzzle addresses the gaps of the traditional approaches by giving greater control to the faculty member on student engagement and monitoring student understanding. The application will be also used in strengthening faculty/staff professional development programs.

During the workshop, a one-minute video on brief overview of the Edpuzzle application was presented. The Session introduced audience on how to register and create an Edpuzzle account, create own content video, assign students to the lesson, use video lessons created by other teachers, including formative assessment, adapt that video by embedding your own questions or audio. Students can re-watch the video as many times as they need at their own pace and the faculty member easily check their progress from their own account. Faculty can use the hassle-free analytics to monitor who watched the video, who did not understand the lesson and who did a good job.
All faculty members and staff of GMU are advised to complete an online certificate course on Edpuzzle application available on the QA&IE portal (Link). After watching the course content and answering the embedded questions, each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
