The QA&IE Deanship Delivers Workshop on In-House Developed Digital Assessment Module

On October 18th, 2024, the QA&IE Deanship, in collaboration with the College of Nursing and, delivered an interactive workshop for its faculty, led by Prof. Ibrahim Elsayed, Dean of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness. The session, attended by more than 80 faculty members, showcased two key digital tools aimed at enhancing assessment: the Digital Assessment Module and the Digital Logbook. These two applications are fully developed by the GMU’s QA&IE Deanship using no-code solutions.

The Digital Assessment Module was designed to streamline the assessment process for faculty members, enabling them to build and replicate rubrics quickly, assign up to five evaluators, and evaluate a wide range of practical skills that are not captured by other assessment platforms. This module provides a convenient mobile-friendly experience, allowing faculty to assess students during exams using their mobile devices. The module helps faculty measure the achievement of each Course Learning Outcome across diverse assessment types and exports grades with one-click.

In addition to the assessment module, the Digital Logbook was demonstrated to faculty as a tool for students to document clinical cases and structured reflections. This feature allows students to send their submissions to up to two evaluators for detailed feedback. The logbook aims to enhance learning by promoting reflective practice and facilitating timely, comprehensive feedback on student performance.

Prof. Elsayed highlighted the benefits of these tools in fostering an environment of continuous improvement and enhancing student learning outcomes at GMU. Faculty members expressed enthusiasm for adopting these innovative digital solutions, which promise to elevate the quality of assessments and feedback within the university.
