Gulf Medical University (GMU) demonstrates its commitment to national development through direct involvement in strategic initiatives led by the Ministry of Health & Prevention. Prof. Hossam Hamdy, Chancellor of GMU, was invited as a key member to the Strategic Planning Meeting organized by Mr. Saqr AlHemeiri, representing the Ministry of Health & Prevention. This meeting marked the first gathering of the committee, formed under Ministerial Resolution No. 147 of 2022, with the objective of strengthening the qualified health workforce in various health specialties.

The meeting, conducted online via Microsoft Teams, focused on identifying current challenges facing the healthcare sector, developing comprehensive strategies to address these challenges, and building a sustainable health workforce capable of meeting future demands. Prof. Hamdy and other committee members engaged in discussions around policy development, including modeling future scenarios with and without specific interventions, and identifying key areas that require urgent attention.
Prof. Hamdy’s involvement highlights GMU’s active role in shaping national policies for healthcare development, including efforts to enable adaptive management, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of implemented interventions.
