GMU QA&IE Unit representative participates in the MoE-Longitudinal Graduate Destinations Survey (LGDS) Institutional Workshop

Gulf Medical University’s QA&IE Unit representative, Ms. Cristeta Contaoi, Deputy Manager-Institutional Research participated in the MoE-Longitudinal Graduate Destinations Survey (LGDS) Institutional Workshop, held on October 30, 2023, at the Ajman Teacher Training Institute.

The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Education’s Graduates and Labor Market Department, aimed to provide valuable insights and updates for institutions regarding the LGDS fieldwork, methodology, and questionnaire. The Ministry of Education, Graduates and Labor Market Department, initiated the workshop to facilitate the forthcoming LGDS fieldwork, which is scheduled to commence on 20th November 2023.

The workshop brought together representatives from various educational institutions across the UAE to discuss and collaborate on the survey’s implementation and improvements.

The workshop featured key sessions covering various aspects of the LGDS survey. Engr. Aisha Al Bloushi gave an overview of the Graduate Destinations Surveys, followed by a Q&A session. Ms. Hamda Waheedi led a discussion on improving the LGDS methodology. Dr. Duncan Lampard presented recommendations for optimizing the survey, and participants engaged in a practical LGDS questionnaire demonstration and practice.

The LGDS workshop aimed to comprehensively review the survey’s outdated approach recognized by the Ministry of Education, including the questionnaire and methodology. The key goals were to modernize the survey’s methods, enhance data value for educational institutions, and propose an efficient data collection process to meet response rate targets. Participating educational institutions played a significant role.

The LGDS survey holds great importance as it helps in comprehending graduates’ career paths, employment rates, further education choices, and overall satisfaction with their educational experiences, serving as a valuable resource for institutions and regulators.
