Internationally Renowned Academician and Pediatric Surgeon Prof. Hossam Hamdy Honored at Annual HEALTH Awards 2018 for Invaluable Contributions to Medical Education and the Healthcare Industry

Prof. Hossam Hamdy was one of the 17 legendary figures of the healthcare industry honored in recognition of their great contributions, in addition to 35 award winners in individual and corporate categories whose achievements were recognized at the event considered the region’s biggest and most comprehensive annual awards for the healthcare sector.
Prof. Hossam Hamdy is Professor of Surgery and Medical Education, and is well-known internationally as a medical educator and active pediatric surgeon. A scholar, professional, and leader in higher education in the Middle East and distinguished internationally for the last 40 years, he has established several Medical Colleges in Egypt, Bahrain, UAE. He has served as the Vice Chancellor Medical & Health Science Colleges, Sharjah University and Dean College of Medicine, Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain. He is a WHO Consultant in Medical Education. His work and contribution to Medicine and Medical Education over more than 40 years has been acknowledged at various global forums and has won him many awards. Prof. Hossam Hamdy was decorated by the Republic of France with the prestigious decoration as “Chevalier Dans L’ordre Des Palmes Academiques” / “Knight of the Order of Academic Palms” from the Republic of France for his life achievements.
Prof. Hossam Hamdy thanked the DHA and Dr. Thumbay Moideen for honoring him. “The healthcare sector as well as the field of medical education has undergone a sea change over the years, and the progress these fields have made in recent times is incredible. I am proud that I could contribute to many of the region’s healthcare and medical education initiatives, and utilize my international education and work-experience for the betterment of healthcare, especially in the Middle East region,” he said.
The Annual HEALTH Awards 2018 had 1000+ people in attendance including government officials, healthcare leaders and professionals from the public/private sectors, Arab and Bollywood celebrities as well as awardees and their friends and relatives.
