Director’s Message

Prof. Mayssah El Nayal
Director
Thumbay Institute for Mental Health

Mental well-being touches every part of our lives—how we think, feel, connect with others, and cope with life’s demands. Today, more than ever, we are encouraged to prioritize mental health—not just as a clinical issue, but as a deeply human one that deserves our care and attention.. As Director of the Thumbay Institute of Mental Health, I believe that creating a world where people feel safe to speak, supported to heal, and empowered to grow is no longer optional, it’s essential.

Too many still suffer in silence due to stigma, fear, or lack of understanding. At our institute, we are working to change that. Through education, compassionate dialogue, and evidence-based practice, we are opening doors to awareness, to acceptance, and to action. Mental health should be part of every conversation in healthcare, in education, and in our communities.

I hope that through our efforts, we not only equip future professionals but also create a culture where mental health is seen, heard, and deeply respected. Because when we take care of the mind, we uplift the person, and that changes everything.
