Dr. Thumbay Moideen is recognized in UAE and beyond for his pioneering role in the fields of Higher Education and Healthcare. He established the THUMBAY Group, U.A.E a diversified international business conglomerate in 1997. The Group has since ventured into multiple areas of the health sector including Health Education, Healthcare and Medical Research among other businesses.

Dr. Moideen was the ‘first Indian’ to be invited to UAE (by the Rulers of Ajman) to set-up a Medical College in 1998 which has now grown into a University with its own network of teaching hospitals, Medical centers Laboratories, Clinics and Pharmacies across UAE.

The Gulf Medical University (GMU), the flagship of the Thumbay Group attracts students from over 98 nationalities, staff from over 50 countries and currently has more than 2500 students enrolled in its 6 colleges and over 28 accredited programs.

The Thumbay Hospital network in U.A.E is one of the largest healthcare providers in the private healthcare sector and the first private Academic Health System in the region. It has 8 hospitals, 10 clinics, 56 pharmacies and 5 laboratories and treats patients from over 175 countries.

Dr. Moideen is regularly invited to speak at various conferences all over the world sharing his experience as entrepreneurs and innovators in health and education. He was invited to major conferences in USA, UK, France, Germany, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, China, Mauritius, Egypt, India, Oman, Bahrain, Hungary and United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Thumbay Moideen has been featured in leading publications like Forbes Middle East Magazine, and Arabian Business – ITP Publishing Group, UAE. Dr. Thumbay Moideen was conferred with the prestigious Honorary Fellowship of International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA) and an honorary Doctorate by the Amity University.

Dr. Moideen has a dream to achieve a global presence in Medical Education & Healthcare, which includes India and other countries in South Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Dr. Thumbay Moideen and his wife, Mrs. Zohra Moideen, an accomplished artist in her own right are blessed with two sons Akbar Moideen Thumbay and Akram Moideen Thumbay. Akbar is married to Ms. Nousheen Salma and Akram is married to Ms. Gemmy. Dr. Moideen has three grandchildren, Ahmed, Omer and Rashid Akbar Thumbay.
