In a strong demonstration of its commitment to community safety and education, the Simulation Department of Gulf Medical University (GMU) conducted a highly impactful First Aid Awareness session for 44 senior leadership members of DPS Sharjah. This important session was organized on May 23rd, 2025, by Dr. Sangeeta Saraf Parihar, the school doctor at DPS Sharjah, in close coordination with Ms. Sandhya Arun, Training Manager – Simulation, at GMU. The session was facilitated by Ms. Sandhya Arun along with the life support instructors: Ms. Juliet Christi B Salares and Dr. Judith John.

The comprehensive training took place from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM and provided the senior leadership team with vital first aid knowledge and skills to effectively respond to medical and injury-related emergencies. The interactive session covered:

  • Overview of First Aid and the Role of a First Aider
  • Medical Emergencies: heart attack, choking, hyperventilation, anaphylaxis, stroke, diabetic emergencies, and seizures
  • Injury Emergencies: major bleeding, nose bleeding, fractures, dislocations, sprains, head injuries, and spinal cord injuries
  • Environmental Emergencies: dealing with bites and stings, as well as heat- and cold-related emergencies

This program showcased the Simulation Department’s dedication to community empowerment, fostering confidence and preparedness among participants to respond to critical situations with calm and care.

Such initiatives are part of Gulf Medical University’s broader commitment to advancing health and safety in the community. The Simulation Department consistently delivers exceptional, hands-on training to ensure participants gain both theoretical understanding and practical lifesaving skills.
