QA&IE Workshop: Course Files and Faculty Appraisal – Enhancing Efficiency

A workshop on “Course Files and Faculty Appraisal – Enhancing Efficiency” was organized by QA&IE Unit on the 8th of April 2022. The workshop was attended by 80 faculty members from across different colleges.

The session was led by Professor Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor for Quality Assurance & Global Engagement and facilitated by Dr. Ibrahim Elsayed, Director – Quality Assurance & Institutional Effectiveness Unit. The objective of the workshop was to orient and demonstrate the functionality of the new course file and faculty appraisal submission systems to the faculty members. The new systems will facilitate closing the loop process by incorporating tools for tracking and monitoring submissions.

Professor Sherief highlighted the key features in both the new systems that will lead to improved efficiency. He emphasized that its effective implementation will overcome the gaps and challenges of the previous systems.  Dr. Ibrahim presented a comparative analysis of the pros and cons of the three systems used for building and submission of course files including the traditional approach (word format), JotForm approach and the Caspio-Google Drive integration approach. A short video was displayed during the workshop on how the faculty can efficiently start building a course file, submit, view, update, track and review.

The new Faculty Appraisal submission system provides an additional feature for editing submissions and recalculation of the overall score of faculty performance based on the updated inputs.
