On June 10, 2021, the Quality Assurance & Institutional Effectiveness team organized a workshop on Faculty Appraisal. The workshop was attended both onsite and online by 80 members from across different Colleges.

The workshop was led by Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor Quality & Global Engagement and Dean, College of Pharmacy and facilitated by Dr. Ibrahim Elsayed, Director of QA&IE Unit. The objective of the workshop was to orient all faculty & teaching staff members from different colleges with the newly introduced online faculty appraisal system.
The workshop highlighted the challenges and gaps in the paper-based faculty appraisal system and how the new online platform has addressed these challenges. The system is designed in alignment with the guidelines of the GMU’s Faculty performance review and development system (FPRDS). The new system captures submission on the four components of faculty appraisal (Teaching, Scholarly activities, Service, and Professional development). The system automatically calculates the overall score of faculty performance based on the inputs for the four domains.

The approval process of the faculty self-evaluation is automated by two levels: Department Chair and Dean. The new system is featured to allow smooth communications, discussions and approvals as per the reporting hierarchy. Moreover, the system allows the faculty to make an appeal against the appraisal.
