Professor of Immunobiology
Holds more than 25 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. He previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Jordan and Head of the Regional Center of Excellence for Infectious Diseases and AMR. He has published 37 scientific papers, with professional interests in infectious diseases, One Health, immunology, and veterinary public health, and has collaborated with organizations and agencies such as FAO, WHO, EuFMD, and USDA, as well as with the animal-health industry.

Welcome to a New Generation of Veterinary Medicine
I am pleased to welcome you to the Thumbay College of Veterinary Medicine at Gulf Medical University.
Veterinary medicine is a profession of remarkable breadth. It reaches from companion-animal care to herd and flock health, from farms and racing stables to laboratories, and from food safety and public health to wildlife, research, industry, and government service. Through One Health, veterinarians contribute to biosecurity, disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness, and protecting animal and public health.
The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program is designed to prepare scientifically strong, clinically capable, and compassionate veterinarians for the animal-health needs of the UAE and beyond. Its course plan, shaped by national priorities and benchmarked against international standards, integrates scientific foundations with early practical experience and progressive clinical training. All required practical and clinical training is completed within the UAE through the College’s facilities, GMU’s veterinary hospital, and MoU partners including Sharjah Falcon Hospital, UAQ Camel Breeding Center, The City Vet Clinic, ABC Feed Factory, and Thumbay Veterinary Clinic. Optional externships with the Royal Veterinary College, London; Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research; and Don State University, Russia offer additional international exposure beyond the course plan.
As part of Gulf Medical University, our students benefit from a multidisciplinary academic health environment, encouraging interaction with other health professions and understanding connections between animal health, human health, and society.
As a new College, we have the opportunity to build from the outset according to high academic and professional standards. Our students will be part of this journey, benefiting from close faculty interaction and individual attention while helping shape the College’s culture and becoming its ambassadors in the profession.
