Department of Community Medicine

The Department of community medicine, since its inception in 1998, is committed to teaching medical and health science students and helping them achieve required competency in health promotion and disease prevention and link that with their clinical competencies.

The Department is also aspiring and helping students conduct research in various aspects of health and present their research in national/ international scientific forums.

As part of the commitment to society, faculty in the Department conducted many health campaigns and outreach activities every year.

In response to the challenge induced by COVID19, faculty in the Department are conducting educational seminars in collaboration with national and international agencies on the global and national epidemiology of the diseases and the population measures to reduce transmission of the disease. In partnership with Governmental and Non-governmental organizations, faculty in the Department are also implementing COVID 19-vaccination awareness campaigns about the available vaccines and related national guidelines.

Community service offers medical and health science students the opportunity to explore their future role as healthcare providers and help them identify their social responsibility that results in a career dedicated to community service and equity in healthcare. Sensing the importance of assisting students in developing social responsibility, the  Department includes students in most community-based services.
